Self-Limiting Choices

Self-Limiting Choices

As of late, I have had so many conversations with various people about self-limiting behavior and the choices we make because of it.

Most people believe that abundance does not exist.  They get the message growing up that they have to limit absolutely everything, i.e. money, food, leisure and even love.  They are taught that everything is scarce, that money is very hard to come by and that even love has to be earned. What they are not taught is how to create abundant thought-patterns, i.e. if we want to make an extreme amount of money we have the ability to do so by putting our minds to it and devising a plan, but because we limit our thoughts about money and believe it isn’t possible to acquire it in abundance, we don’t even try and therefore it isn’t possible for us.

Where love is concerned, many of us never received the message that it is a gift to freely give and receive and that it shouldn’t cost us anything to do so, therefore with limited thinking, we don’t believe it is possible.  There is an adage about loving and respecting yourself or no one else will love or respect you.  With that in mind we need to be with someone who shares our values.  Values are core beliefs and if you share those with another person, I mean truly share them, then that creates intense intimacy on all levels; to your very core.  In the past, for example, when I have tried to maintain relationships with people whose values I do not share, they never work out.  They always start out great but then you get to know the person and you see how different their values are from yours and one of two things happen: you instantly get turned off and run, or you try to mold yourself into someone you are not in order to fit into their world so you don’t lose them, thereby losing yourself and then it still doesn’t work out.

We believe that anything and everything worth having must come at a cost.  This simply is not true.  Let yourself have abundance…the universe is full of it.  Tell yourself you can have everything…and you can.
